Angel Rabbit Rescue

Angel Rabbit Rescue is a non-profit self funded rescue based in Dorset. The founder, Amanda, has a long history of rescuing all sorts of animals.

The name came about in 2012 when a very young rabbit and his family was surrendered after being attacked by the families dog. He, Angel, had ongoing health problems throughout his short life. Unfortunately, despite many vet visits, the infection from the dog bite kept coming back and he eventually lost his battle. In his memory, the rescue was born.

To date, we have rescued and rehomed over 500 rabbits. Every rabbit must be vet checked, vaccinated, neutered and found another rabbit to love and live with if they haven’t already got a partner.

The costs incurred to the rescue are vast. For the rescue to run smoothly, Amanda relies on a small number of dedicated volunteers. These fabulous people give up their precious free time to help with the daily care of the rabbits, fundraising, admin, bookkeeping and fostering. We also have a special foster mum that cares for the many rabbits that need to be quarantined, as many come in unvaccinated and we need to protect the other rabbits in our care.

Rabbits are the 3rd most common pet in the UK. Sadly their every day needs are often misunderstood. At Angel Rabbit Rescue we have the capacity to house 70 rabbits between 2 main sites and fosters. The rescue is always full, with a waiting list of owners wanting to surrender their rabbits for various reasons.

If you would like to keep up-to-date with news, competitions and fundraisers, please see linktr.ee/angelrabbitrescue for all of our social media pages.

We are always looking for sponsors for our long term and permanent rabbits. Some rabbits cannot be rehomed and stay with us, where they have lots of love from all of our volunteers. Donations of prizes for our fundraisers and raffles are always needed, as this is our only source of income. If you are able to help in anyway, please get in touch via social media or general enquiries form.
